Molecular Mechanism (In Vitro Context)

In cell culture studies, BPC-157 has been observed to interact with the nitric oxide (NO) system, modulating NO synthase activity and downstream signalling pathways. Research using human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and gastrointestinal epithelial cell lines has documented effects on vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor expression and the FAK-paxillin pathway, which is associated with cytoskeletal organisation and cell migration in wound healing models.

Additional in vitro work has examined BPC-157's interaction with growth hormone receptor expression in fibroblast cultures, and its apparent influence on the Janus kinase / STAT signalling cascade.
